It won her the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Screenplay. She has taught at Duke University, Brown University, and UC Santa Barbara. She also wrote the screenplay for the erotic thriller ''Chloe'', theatrically released by Sony Pictures Classics on March 26, 2010.
